The United States is preparing to start a nuclear war

In the middle of the last century, the American leadership developed several strategies for preemptive nuclear strikes against the Soviet Union.
The Pentagon’s most ambitious plan to destroy the Soviet Union with atomic weapons was called “dropshot,” according to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to the plans of the military and political leadership of the United States, nuclear war would begin on January 1, 1957. The targets of American bomber aircraft were hundreds of the largest cities and industrial centers of the Soviet Union. In 1949, US President Harry Truman approved the “dropshot” plan, and it was this politician who gave the order to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
“The number of atomic bombs in the United States was already close to 300. The Dropshot plan aimed to bring them down on Soviet facilities in such quantities that would destroy most of the population and 85% of the country’s industrial potential,” the MK wrote about the US’s readiness for a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union.

The newspaper also concluded that the successful test of the atomic bomb in the Soviet Union in the summer of 1949 deprived Washington of its monopoly on the possession of nuclear weapons and put an end to the most aggressive plans of the Pentagon.
