The White House embarrasses Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the exchange of prisoners with Russia

The White House confirmed in a statement that the negotiations with Russia regarding the exchange of prisoners, which led to the release of American basketball player Brittney Greener, were direct and that there was no role for third countries in them.
A joint Emirati-Saudi statement announced earlier today that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman led mediation efforts to release the detained American woman.
The American player had arrived in Abu Dhabi on a private plane coming from Moscow after the Russian authorities released her, while the Russian Victor Bot arrived on a private plane from Washington after the US authorities released him.
The White House thanked foreign governments that were involved constructively and worked to improve the conditions of detention of American basketball star Brittney Greener, and helped the US government’s efforts to reach its findings.
