To Boost Combat Readiness: North Korean Leader Calls for Increased Ammunition Production

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un conducted a field visit on Wednesday to an ammunition factory, urging a significant increase in production to strengthen the military’s combat capabilities.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim oversaw manufacturing operations and inspected the progress in machine-building technology during his visit to key military industry companies under the Second Economic Committee.

Kim expressed satisfaction with the factory’s technological advancement, noting that facility upgrades have reached an advanced level and that production has surged to four times the annual average, surpassing all previous records.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing artillery power, calling it a crucial factor in improving the army’s effectiveness and readiness. Kim described the expansion in production as a strategic move to implement the party’s defense development plans.

His tour also included a machinery plant, where he discussed long-term modernization goals, highlighting the need to transform the plant into a key industrial hub to support the national defense sector.

Kim also stressed the importance of developing advanced equipment that combines intelligence, speed, precision, and multifunctionality, aimed at supporting both ammunition production and other economic sectors in the country.
