To contain inflation… France decides to sell fuel at a loss

The French government plans to allow fuel to be sold at a loss in a bid to find new ways to contain inflation without adding to huge sums of public money already spent.
Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne said that the law would be suspended for a limited period of “a few months,” and ruled out that the government would reduce the fuel tax.
“With this unprecedented measure, we will obtain tangible results for the French people without fuel subsidies,” Bourne added.
