Trump: Russia Made Significant Concessions Toward Ukraine Peace Deal

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that Russia has made a “tremendous concession” that could pave the way for a peace agreement in Ukraine. According to Trump, Moscow has ceased its push to take full control of Ukrainian territory, marking a major step toward ending the ongoing conflict.
Trump’s Outlook on the Russia-Ukraine Conflict
During a meeting with Norway’s Prime Minister at the White House, Trump emphasized that “Russia is no longer an obstacle to a ceasefire in Ukraine,” expressing optimism that Moscow, Kyiv, and the European Union are ready to accept the terms of a settlement.
“I believe they’ll all agree. We’re going to wrap this up soon,” Trump said, while also noting the difficulty of reclaiming Crimea, which, he stated, “was handed over to Russia without a single shot.”
On Iran Nuclear Talks
Regarding negotiations with Iran, Trump said progress is being made toward a new nuclear deal. “I believe we’re moving in a positive direction. A great agreement may be on the horizon — one that could save many lives,” he added, ahead of technical talks scheduled to take place in Oman in the coming days.
Is Zelensky a Barrier to Peace?
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that the resignation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not a condition for ending the war. However, he noted that questions about constitutional legitimacy could arise, even if a peace agreement were signed.
Peskov asserted that “Zelensky has dragged Europe and the United States into a direct conflict with Russia,” adding that a true resolution to the war “cannot happen without restoring normal relations between Moscow and Washington.”
