Turkish Airstrike Claims Lives of Entire Family in Kobani

A family consisting of a father, mother, and seven children was killed in a Turkish bombardment targeting the village of “Berkh Botan” in the countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.

Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), mourned the victims on the X platform, urging the Damascus government to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting Syrian territories from Turkish military violations. Abdi also called on the international coalition and influential powers to pressure for an immediate ceasefire, stressing that continued violence hinders efforts to transition toward a stable Syria.

Meanwhile, northeastern Syria has witnessed a military escalation since yesterday evening, marked by intense Turkish airstrikes and artillery shelling. The attacks destroyed infrastructure in the countryside of Al-Hasakah and Kobani provinces, as well as areas near the Tishreen Dam. According to Kurdish local statistics, Turkish forces launched approximately 100 attacks, firing over 600 shells and conducting airstrikes, despite existing agreements between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Turkey, which claims to support peace, continues to violate Syrian sovereignty. Observers question its motives, particularly as its military operations escalate amid international negotiations to resolve the Syrian crisis. The recent attacks coincide with global calls to prioritize stability in the region.
