U.S. Ambassador to Israel Criticizes France’s Position, Suggests Palestinian State Be Established in the French Riviera

The United States has responded to recent remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he reaffirmed France’s commitment to a two-state solution as a pathway to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee criticized the timing of Macron’s statement, describing it as “highly inappropriate,” particularly amid the ongoing war involving Israel.

Huckabee argued that the October 7 attacks had significantly altered the geopolitical landscape, asserting that international pressure on Israel at this stage is “unacceptable.”

Ambassador Responds with Sarcasm

In a pointed remark, Huckabee suggested—sarcastically—that if France is genuinely committed to the idea of a Palestinian state, it could “carve out a portion of the French Riviera” for such a purpose. He stated that imposing such solutions on a “sovereign nation” is unacceptable, referring to France’s position as “disgusting,” according to his wording.

President Macron made his comments during a press conference in Singapore last Friday, urging European countries to adopt a firmer stance toward Israel should it fail to respond adequately to the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip in the coming hours and days.

Macron reaffirmed France’s commitment to pursuing a lasting political solution, reiterating his support for a two-state framework. He described the recognition of a Palestinian state as both a “moral obligation” and a “political necessity.”
