U.S. Vice President… Iran’s reintegration into the global economy and future negotiations on nuclear weapons with Russia and China.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance announced today that ongoing negotiations between Washington and Iran are progressing positively so far. He emphasized the administration’s efforts to secure an agreement that would reintegrate Tehran into the global economy in exchange for guarantees preventing it from acquiring nuclear weapons. He also noted that President Donald Trump opposes the proliferation of nuclear weapons and that the U.S. administration remains open to talks with Russia and China in the coming period to reduce the number of nuclear arms worldwide.  

In a related context, Vance called for direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to bring an end to the war that has been ongoing for three years since Russian forces invaded Ukrainian territory. He stated, “We believe full mediation may be impossible without at least direct dialogue between the two sides, which is why we are focusing on supporting this path.”  

Meanwhile, Vance expressed Washington’s view that the demands put forward by Russia in the negotiations are “excessive.” However, he pointed out that this does not diminish his optimism about reaching a resolution that would end the conflict, stressing the importance of balance in any future agreement.
