UAE Ambassador arrives in Tehran to resume his duties

The Emirati ambassador to Iran, Saif Muhammad Al-Zaabi, returned to Tehran to resume his diplomatic duties, and met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated, “Emir Abdullahian received yesterday evening, Tuesday, the Emirati ambassador, Saif Al-Zaabi, who returned to Tehran years after his country reduced the level of representation.”

The Foreign Ministry statement also quoted the minister as saying that “the Islamic Republic is interested in developing relations with all its neighbors, including the United Arab Emirates, on the basis of the neighborhood policy,” stressing the importance of “cooperation of the countries of the region in order to establish stability in the region.”

Abdullahian stressed “the need to use the available capabilities in developing relations between the two countries, forming a high commission for cooperation between the two countries, organizing consular relations, and facilitating the activities of Iranian educational, service and medical institutions in the UAE.”

For his part, Al-Zaabi expressed his satisfaction with being in Iran again, noting that “the two countries’ high economic and trade capabilities are an important factor for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.”

In late August, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the return of its ambassador, Saif Mohammed Al Zaabi, to the Iranian capital, Tehran.

A statement issued by the ministry confirmed that this step comes within the framework of “the keenness of the wise leadership of the UAE to strengthen its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in implementation of its previous decision to raise the level of diplomatic representation to the rank of ambassador and the phone call that took place on July 26, 2022 between His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Dr. Hussein Amir Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard.
