Unprecedented Escalation in Syria’s Coastal Region – Alawite Islamic Council Calls for International Intervention!
The Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria and the diaspora has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Syria’s coastal region. The statement highlighted that increasing clashes have led to rising violence against civilians, particularly targeting the Alawite community.
The statement reads:
“In light of recent developments and our ongoing monitoring of the escalating tensions, we have observed the arrival of armed convoys into the Syrian coast under the pretext of targeting regime remnants. This raises serious concerns about the safety of civilians and the Alawite community, especially with the growing incidents of killings and intimidation.”
The Alawite Islamic Council has called on the United Nations, Russia, and the international community to implement Chapter VII of the UN Charter to ensure the protection of Alawite regions and other religious minorities. The council also emphasized the urgent need to place Syria’s coastal region under international protection.
