US court rejects US family’s request to sue Netflix

A US judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Netflix from the family of a teenage girl who claimed she committed suicide because she watched 13 Reasons Why, with the plaintiff and the girl’s father, John Herndon, saying viewers were not adequately warned about the show’s suicide-related content.
The father claimed that his 15-year-old daughter, Bella, “died as a result of watching Netflix or at least the work significantly contributed to her suicide” in April of 2017.
The fourth and final season of the series 13 Reasons Why was shown in 2020, which revolves around 17-year-old Hannah Baker, who died by suicide and left behind 13 tapes for different people.
