US Secretary of State Marco Rubio: Iran Had All It Needed to Build a Nuclear Weapon, and Retaliation Would Be a Grave Mistake

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in remarks to Fox News, warned Iran against any retaliation for the recent military operation conducted by the US against Iranian nuclear facilities. “Any response from Iran would be the biggest mistake it could possibly make,” Rubio said, emphasizing that the United States “is not at war with Iran and does not seek regime change,” but aims to protect regional and international security.

The Secretary added that Washington is prepared to engage in direct negotiations with Tehran, stressing that a resolution to the nuclear issue can only be achieved through dialogue. He reaffirmed that the American offer for talks “remains on the table” and stated that the United States would hold not only Iran’s proxies but also Tehran itself accountable for any attacks on US interests. He reiterated that “Iran is behind every problem in the Middle East” and that any attempts by Tehran to mislead the US president have failed.

Rubio also stated that “it is accurate to say Iran possessed all the necessary elements to build a nuclear weapon,” explaining that Tehran had accumulated enough highly enriched uranium to produce nine or ten bombs. He called on China to engage with Iran over the status of the Strait of Hormuz to prevent any potential disruption to global oil supplies.

US Vice President JD Vance Confirms Damage to Fordow Nuclear Site

In remarks to ABC News, US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that the recent airstrikes targeted and damaged Iran’s Fordow nuclear site, as well as two other facilities. He stated that Washington was confident that the Fordow site had been significantly damaged, in line with the operation’s objectives.

Vance added that “the world is safer and more stable today than it was 24 hours ago” and reiterated that the United States “does not seek war with Iran” but aims to halt threats and ensure peace and security.
