Washington Post: UNRWA Director Concerned About Ban on Israeli Officials’ Communication in Gaza

The Washington Post published a report about the concerns of Philippe Lazzarini, the director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza, who expressed worry that the ban on communication between Israeli officials and the agency’s staff could put them at risk.

The director emphasized that this ban could further complicate the situation in the region and negatively affect efforts to provide aid to Palestinian refugees.

On the other hand, the newspaper quoted an Israeli security official saying that Israel would make every effort to ensure that other international organizations replace UNRWA in Gaza.
The official added that this move is part of a strategy to reduce UNRWA’s role in the Gaza Strip amid the recent escalation in tensions between Israel and the Palestinians.
