What did the Russian ambassador say about Syrian airports?

The Russian President’s special envoy to Syria and Russia’s ambassador to Damascus, Alexander Yefimov, criticized Israel’s bombing of Syrian civilian airports, saying that such actions in light of the Gaza events are “irresponsible steps, fraught with more negative consequences for the region.”
Yefimov added in an interview with the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan that such air strikes are “a blatant violation of international law and Syria’s sovereignty, and we categorically reject these actions that constitute a threat to the civilian population.”
He said: “Taking into account the events taking place in Gaza, such irresponsible steps are fraught with the most negative consequences for the entire region, and we condemn them and demand their immediate end.”
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced during the past two months that Damascus and Aleppo international airports were subjected to repeated Israeli air strikes that put them out of service.
Regarding Syrian-Turkish relations, the Russian ambassador said that restoring relations between them will contribute to the comprehensive improvement of the situation in the entire region, stressing that the Astana process is still the only effective one within the framework of the political settlement in Syria.
He also added that it is possible that the next meeting within the Astana process will be held before the end of this year.
