Xabi Alonso leaves Bayer Real Madrid as his next destination.

Bayer Leverkusen has announced the departure of Spanish coach Xabi Alonso at the end of the current Bundesliga season.

The club released a statement on its official X account, saying, “After nearly two and a half years, during the most successful period in the club’s history, our coach Xabi Alonso will leave at the end of the season, Bayer Leverkusen.”

Alonso, 43, had appeared at the press conference ahead of his team’s match against Borussia Dortmund, where he answered journalists’ questions and confirmed that he had requested the termination of his contract, which was originally set to run until 2026.

Last season, Alonso led Bayer Leverkusen to a historic double, winning both the Bundesliga and the German Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Meanwhile, Spanish media reports have linked Alonso as a potential successor to Real Madrid’s current coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Alonso previously played for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool.
