Zakharova: Macron Adheres to the Political Legacy of His Predecessors in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova revealed the direct role of France in escalating the Ukrainian crisis since the political upheaval in Kyiv, noting that former French presidents were actively involved and that current President Emmanuel Macron is not separate from this political legacy.
During a press conference, Zakharova accused Macron of using inappropriate statements toward Russia, indicating that some of his remarks reached the level of “unacceptable personal insults” against the Russian people. She added that the Russian Foreign Ministry continuously monitors what it considers “unusual statements” made by the French president.
The Russian diplomat emphasized that the issue goes beyond a mere exchange of criticisms, noting that Macron’s recent comments describing Russia as “predatory and cannibalistic” lack justification. She stated that France bears historical responsibility for the trajectory of the Ukrainian crisis, asserting that Paris’s policies merit the description of being “predatory.”
