Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced a package of sanctions against Syrian entities and personalities, including Head of State Bashar al-Assad.
This move by Zelensky follows President Assad’s recent visit to Moscow, during which he renewed Damascus’ position in support of the Russian operation against the Kiev regime.
For almost a year Ukraine had announced the severance of its diplomatic relations with Damascus following the latter’s recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics and the establishment of diplomatic relations with them.
