Zelensky Sets His Red Line for Negotiations with Moscow
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that “our red line in negotiations is the refusal to recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Ukraine’s occupied territories.” He emphasized that Russia started the war and that the Ukrainian army will continue to respond to Russian strikes.
In a televised speech, Zelensky stressed, “We are not seeking to showcase power, but if you attack us, you should expect a response, no matter how strong you are.” He also noted, “As President of Ukraine, I will adhere to the Ukrainian Constitution in any negotiations with Russia.”
Under U.S. pressure, Zelensky had previously agreed to end the war through negotiations with Russia and to sign a precious metals agreement with the United States as compensation for Washington’s financial support to Kyiv during the war.
