Abbas Araghchi from Beirut: Iran ready for war, committed to negotiations if needed

Abbas Araghchi discusses regional and international issues with President Joseph Aoun

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beirut, noting that the region faces significant challenges and unprecedented Israeli threats, while emphasizing Iran’s interest in strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Lebanon. He indicated that the visit aims to discuss various regional and international issues with Lebanese officials, including meetings with the President, Speaker of Parliament, ministers, and the Foreign Minister.

Araghchi pointed out that Israel continues to violate its commitments under the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon. He emphasized that Iran consults continuously with governments and countries in the region, and that the timing of this visit is particularly important for Lebanon. He added that the visit will explore avenues for bilateral cooperation, noting that trade between the two countries has reached $110 million.

Araghchi also affirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and national unity, stressing the commitment to enhance bilateral relations based on mutual respect and shared interests. He noted that Iran is ready to negotiate with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and common interests, emphasizing that Tehran does not seek war but is prepared if necessary, and remains open to dialogue and negotiation.
