Saudi Arabia Warns of Rising Tensions Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over escalating tensions and clashes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, urging restraint and prioritizing dialogue to reduce hostilities. The Saudi Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed support for regional and international efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, according to an official statement.

The border between the two countries has witnessed violent clashes between Afghan Taliban forces and the Pakistani border guard, resulting in at least 12 Pakistani soldiers killed. Reports also indicated that the Afghan Air Force conducted a strike on Lahore in response to a Pakistani attack targeting Taliban positions near the border.

These developments follow Pakistani air and drone strikes targeting Kabul and Paktia, aimed at the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Noor Wali Mehsud, and his potential successors. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan border regions continue to experience repeated attacks by armed groups against Pakistani forces and civilians, citing defense of ethnic minority rights, including Pashtuns and Baloch.
