Al-Shara: The Next Phase Will Be Managed with a State Mentality
In an interview with “Al Arabiya – Al Hadath” channel, Ahmed al-Shara, the head of military operations, confirmed that there will be several political stages preceding the selection of a new president in Syria.
He noted that drafting the constitution could take around three years, while organizing elections may require four years.
Al-Shara announced that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham will be dissolved and that Syria will not be a source of trouble for anyone. He also emphasized that the upcoming phase will be managed with a state mentality, with expectations of significant public service changes within a year.
Regarding the protests, al-Shara stressed that demonstrations are a legitimate right for all segments of society, as long as they do not harm institutions. He pointed out that the retaliatory operations occurring are less than expected given the scale of the crisis, and confirmed that there is no intention to divide Syria or establish a federation.
