Aleppo: Security Measures in Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh amid Deteriorating Humanitarian Situation
The Aleppo Health Directorate reported that the number of civilian casualties has risen to 4 dead and 18 injured following clashes in residential neighborhoods of Aleppo. Local sources indicated that several districts have witnessed civilian displacement amid worsening humanitarian conditions and growing concerns over civilian safety.
In this context, Governor Azzam Al-Gharib called on residents to stay away from the positions of the “SDF” forces, noting the opening of two humanitarian corridors in the “Al-Awarid” and “Al-Zuhur Street” areas to facilitate the evacuation of civilians from affected areas until 3:00 p.m. He also announced a full curfew in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods starting at the same time until further notice, alongside the mobilization of public transport to transfer affected individuals to temporary shelters.
Meanwhile, a security source told SANA that a number of detainees escaped from a prison in the Al-Sheqif area under SDF control. The Syrian Army Operations Authority had previously stated that military positions held by the SDF within the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods are considered legitimate military targets, amid ongoing security tensions in the city.
