Algeria Declares National Mourning After Bus Accident – Video

The Algerian Presidency announced a one-day national mourning and the lowering of flags in solidarity with the families of victims of a passenger bus accident in the capital, which claimed 18 lives. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune extended his condolences to the families, describing the incident as a tragedy that affected everyone.

According to the Civil Defense, 23 people were injured, two of them critically, after the bus fell from a bridge into the Oued El Harrach stream, in the direction of the “Al-Hawa Al-Jamil” neighborhood in the Harrach district. The injured were taken to local hospitals, and the deceased were transferred to the morgue.

Local sources said the Civil Defense deployed 25 ambulances, 16 divers, and 4 inflatable boats to continue rescue operations at the scene, which are still ongoing.
