Arab League Calls for International Action to Halt Israeli Escalation in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stated that Israeli military operations in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon represent a new and dangerous escalation, noting that they “violate signed agreements and threaten regional stability.”
In a statement relayed by Arab League spokesperson Jamal Rushdi, Aboul Gheit described the situation in Gaza as an “unprecedented phase,” suggesting that the goal may be to push residents to leave the Strip by creating unbearable living conditions.
He warned of the consequences of continued military actions and urged the international community to take a stand to end what he called a “cycle of ongoing violence.” He added that the resumption of assassination policies in Lebanon poses a serious threat to stability, and that the escalation in Syria and Lebanon may be tied to internal political agendas.
Aboul Gheit stressed that countries committed to international law must act to contain the escalation and prevent further deterioration in regional conditions.
