Beirut Hosts “Asafer Wahdi Malikan” Oratorio Celebrating Mansour Rahbani’s Centenary
A musical evening titled “Asafer Wahdi Malikan” was held, presenting a symphonic oratorio based on texts by Lebanese poet Mansour Rahbani, as part of events marking the centenary of his birth. The performance brought together Lebanese and international artists and was held under the patronage of Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun.
Musical Work Details
The oratorio features original music composed by Osama Rahbani and is drawn from selected poems in Mansour Rahbani’s book “Asafer Wahdi Malikan.” It was performed by the Ukrainian National Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the choir of Notre Dame University–Louaize, blending choral voices with a full symphonic arrangement. 
Performance and Vocals
Singer Hiba Tawaji led the vocal performance of the oratorio, while Jad Rahbani served as the narrator, delivering the poetic texts in a dramatic narrative style that reinforced the work’s human and philosophical dimensions. The musical direction remained faithful to the distinctive Rahbani artistic legacy. 
Venue and Patronage
The evening took place at the Church of the Sacred Heart School (Frères) in Gemmayzeh, attended by cultural and artistic figures. It was held under the patronage of the President of the Lebanese Republic, in cultural cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Culture and Arts Group, as part of broader efforts to support major artistic productions with a strong Arab cultural dimension.
