Austin: We don’t think Putin made a final decision

United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has confirmed that his country does not believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin made a final decision to use force against Ukraine.
In his remarks today, Austin said that diplomacy still had an opportunity to resolve the problem in Eastern Europe, stressing his country’s commitment to helping Ukraine defend itself.
He added: “We delivered $650 million in security assistance to Ukraine last year.”
Austin warned Russia that any attack on a member of the Netto Pact was entirely an attack on the Alliance, stressing that the Pentagon would continue to provide the U.S. President with options to protect national security in response to Russia’s actions.
