Official: Barcelona Crowned La Liga Champions for the 28th Time in Club History

 Barcelona has officially secured the La Liga title for the 28th time in its history following a 2-0 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby, part of Matchday 36. With this win, the Catalan giants increased their tally to 85 points, seven ahead of Real Madrid, thus clinching the title with two matches remaining in the season.

The goals came courtesy of rising star Lamine Yamal, who opened the scoring with a stunning effort in the 53rd minute, followed by a late goal from Fermín López in stoppage time (90+5) after a precise assist from Yamal. The match also saw Espanyol’s Leandro Cabrera sent off in the 78th minute for a reckless challenge on Yamal.

With this triumph, Barcelona completes a domestic treble for the season, having already claimed the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. The team is set to celebrate the title in front of their home fans in the upcoming fixture against Villarreal, before concluding the season with a match against Athletic Bilbao on May 25.
