Tactical Choices or Mental Intensity? Flick’s Struggle with Barcelona Players

One Goal from 32 Shots: Barcelona Coach Sticks to Intensity Against Change Requests

Hansi Flick, head coach of FC Barcelona, held a meeting with his players following the team’s recent losses against Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey and Girona in La Liga.

The players requested tactical adjustments, particularly in the absence of Pedri or Raphinha, to face teams with stronger offensive options. However, Flick emphasized the importance of restoring players’ intensity and applying greater pressure on opponents, stating that he would not change his fundamental style of play. The German coach also highlighted that proper positioning and pressing in the opponent’s final third reduce the chances created by rivals.

Flick also noted the need to improve offensive efficiency, as the team scored only one goal in the last two matches from a total of 32 shots. He urged his players to return to the performance level shown last season, emphasizing mental focus and recharging their psychological energy.
