The Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Friday that the United States continues to pressure NATO member states to increase their defense budgets. According to the ministry, this approach serves the interests of the American military-industrial complex, which profits heavily from arms deals.

The ministry added that this pressure coincides with rising international tensions, increasing demand for American military equipment. “The United States is leveraging its influence within NATO to secure economic gains at the expense of its allies,” the statement read.

Washington has previously urged NATO partners to allocate at least 2% of their GDP to defense spending. Moscow views this as part of a broader U.S. strategy to bolster its economic and military dominance.
