Breaking: Tensions and Clashes in Aleppo

Heavy clashes erupted in the northern entrance of Aleppo on Saturday, specifically in the Ballirmoun Roundabout area, between members of the “General Security” forces of the Syrian Interim Government and fighters affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The confrontations resulted in casualties and injuries, sparking a state of alert that extended to the predominantly Kurdish neighborhoods of Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud.
According to local media reports, at least one member of the General Security was killed and several others injured after their vehicle came under fire from SDF fighters who had reportedly infiltrated the area. Other sources mentioned that communication was lost with several security members during the clashes, which included sniper fire that blocked key roads and halted civilian movement on the vital route linking Aleppo’s industrial zone to the northern countryside and onward to the Turkish border.
On the other hand, SDF-affiliated websites reported that their forces opened fire on a speeding vehicle heading toward one of their military posts in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood. They confirmed that one fighter was killed and others injured—later identified as members of the General Security. They denied carrying out any infiltration into the Ballirmoun area.
