British Statement in Strong Terms Against the Backdrop of Recent Violence in Syria
The United Kingdom expressed its shock over the recent attacks targeting the Druze community in Syria, according to an official statement by the British Foreign Ministry on Saturday. It urged Syrian authorities to take steps to restore calm, protect civilians from violence, and hold those responsible accountable.
The statement strongly called on all parties to renounce violence, ensure the protection of civilians, and refrain from actions that could exacerbate tensions among communities in Syria. It also urged Israel to avoid any activities that might destabilize Syria, emphasizing that respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is of utmost importance.
The statement added that there can be no lasting peace or better future for Syrians unless all Syrian communities are protected and fully included in the transformation process in Syria.
It is noted that recent violent incidents in several Syrian cities over the past days have resulted in dozens of civilian casualties in As-Suwayda, Jaramana, and Sahnaya.
