“Christ the Redeemer”: The largest statue of Christ in the world…

The Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil is the largest statue of Christ in the world, built in the Art Deco style in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The statue is an iconic symbol of the city, Brazil, and Christians worldwide.
It stands atop the “Corcovado” mountain, overlooking the Tijuca National Park, with a height of 38 meters and a weight of 1,000 tons. The statue was designed by Brazilian artist Heitor de Silva Costa and sculpted by French artist Paul Landowski from smooth stone and concrete.
It has been renovated several times in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2003, three elevators, each capable of carrying 14 people, and a staircase leading to the top of the base were added for tourists. The statue was also renovated in 2010 and painted in yellow and green to support the Brazilian team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa at that time.
