Clashes in Aleppo Escalate as Heavy Shelling Hits Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh
Clashes in Aleppo intensified as artillery and rocket fire struck residential neighborhoods, prompting official warnings and raising concerns over civilian safety.
Military Reinforcements and Field Movements
Local sources reported that military reinforcements belonging to factions affiliated with Abu Mohammad al-Jolani moved from Idlib toward active confrontation axes in Aleppo. In addition, a military convoy departed from the town of Mare’ in northern Aleppo countryside heading toward the city.
Heavy Shelling in Residential Areas
The neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh came under intense mortar and artillery fire, with reports of rocket launchers being used as part of the ongoing clashes in Aleppo.
Field sources said that forces affiliated with the Ministry of Defense fired at least six rockets at positions held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Sheikh Maqsoud, while fighting continued in the surrounding areas.
Rockets Fall Inside Aleppo City
Several rocket shells reportedly landed in Nile Street and Syriac Street in central Aleppo. Additional mortar shells hit the Jamiliyah neighborhood and the al-Razi Bridge area, causing panic among residents.
The fighting also led to the closure of several roads due to ongoing clashes near Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.
Civilian Injuries Reported
Medical sources confirmed that the number of injured civilians in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh has risen to five, following the exchange of fire and shelling in densely populated areas.
Official Warnings to Residents
Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib issued an urgent statement urging residents to:
Avoid approaching areas of fighting
Refrain from using roads leading to the city center until further notice
Avoid gatherings near conflict zones
Remain indoors and seek safe locations if living near clashes
Rely only on official and verified sources for information
Exchange of Accusations
The SDF Media Center said it holds the Damascus government fully responsible for what it described as attacks on Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior stated that SDF forces opened fire on joint security checkpoints near Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, injuring one internal security officer and one soldier. The ministry also reported injuries among civilians and civil defense personnel due to SDF gunfire.
Captures and Continued Fighting
Sources reported that several members of Ministry of Defense factions were captured by SDF forces following the clashes. Fighting continues near the Lairamoun Roundabout and Sheikh Shihan Roundabout in northern Aleppo.
Security Situation Remains Tense
The ongoing clashes in Aleppo reflect a rapidly deteriorating security situation, raising fears of further escalation and increased risks to civilians and infrastructure within the city.
