Decisive Arab Stances Against Reported Agency for Palestinian Displacement
Several Arab countries have expressed strong opposition to Israel’s reported establishment of an agency tasked with facilitating the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, as well as its approval of the separation of 13 unauthorized settlement outposts in the West Bank in preparation for their legalization.
In an official statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the move, emphasizing that the displacement of Palestinians constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law. The statement further noted that the expansion of Israeli settlements undermines international legitimacy, particularly referencing UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
Egypt also condemned the Israeli announcement, stating that any departure occurring under the conditions of ongoing warfare, combined with restrictions on humanitarian aid and the use of starvation as a tactic, constitutes forced displacement. Cairo described such actions as a violation of both international law and international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm rejection of what it described as ongoing Israeli violations of international law. Riyadh affirmed that a lasting and just peace cannot be achieved without ensuring the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, in line with international resolutions, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to recent reports, Israel has announced the formation of a voluntary migration agency for Palestinians in Gaza, to be operated under the Israeli Ministry of Defense and in coordination with security agencies.
