Denied Airspace Clearance: How Mahmoud Abbas Reached Damascus

Israeli Army Radio reported that authorities denied permission for Jordanian helicopters to transport Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to the Syrian capital, Damascus, where he is scheduled to make an official visit—his first of its kind—to meet with Ahmed Al-Sharaa, the head of Syria’s transitional authority.

According to the Israeli broadcast, Abbas was forced to travel by land from the West Bank to Jordan via the Karameh crossing, and from there, he continued his journey by air to Damascus.
