Details of Intense Israeli Attack on Yemen
Israeli media reported that the Israeli army carried out a “large-scale” military operation in Yemen, involving heavy bombardment of key facilities belonging to the Ansar Allah government (Houthis). The strike was reportedly in retaliation for yesterday’s missile attack on Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, which was followed by a Yemeni declaration of a no-fly zone over the airport in response to Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.

According to the U.S.-based Axios news website, an Israeli official stated that the targets included the port of Hodeidah and a critical facility—identified by Yemeni media as the Bajil Cement Factory in Hodeidah Governorate. Channel 12 of Israeli television cited a security source saying the port was the primary target, sustaining heavy damage from 48 bombs.
Israeli media indicated that the operation was executed solely by Israel, but in coordination with the United States. The Israeli news site Walla reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant oversaw the operation directly from the Israeli army’s command center in Tel Aviv. The strike has since concluded.
Channel 13 reported that the Israeli military is preparing for a possible retaliatory response from Yemen. Meanwhile, several airlines have extended the suspension of flights to and from Ben Gurion Airport after Yemen called on airlines to avoid the airspace around the now-targeted airport.
Local Yemeni media confirmed that the port of Hodeidah was hit by at least six airstrikes, and that the bombing of the cement factory led to casualties.
