Egypt: Mysterious Explosion Near Haikstep Shakes Obour, Shorouk, and First Settlement – Video

A large explosion of unknown origin occurred, with several eyewitnesses reporting that it caused tremors in the Egyptian cities of Obour, Shorouk, and the First Settlement, without any official clarification regarding its cause so far.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the explosion occurred in the Haikstep military area near the airport on the Cairo–Ismailia road. Meanwhile, the Cairo 24 website reported that the noise heard around Badr and Shorouk resulted from construction work, which caused dust but not smoke.

Other sources suggested that the sound might have originated from an industrial accident or a minor explosion at one of the quarries near Obour city. Some also indicated the possibility that the incident occurred within the premises of MIU University on the outskirts of the city.
