Peskov: El-Dabaa Nuclear Plant in Egypt Nears Operation – Video
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Egypt’s El-Dabaa Nuclear Plant, constructed by the Russian company Rosatom, is close to beginning operations and electricity generation, noting that the project is progressing according to plan.
The statement coincided with a video-linked ceremony attended by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the installation of the reactor vessel in the plant’s first unit.
El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is Egypt’s first nuclear facility and one of the largest national energy projects. The plant comprises four power units with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts and is located in the El-Dabaa area of Matrouh Governorate on the country’s northern coast.

The plant’s construction relies on Russian reactor technology, reflecting Cairo-Moscow cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy. The project forms part of Egypt’s strategy to enhance electricity production capacity and diversify energy sources.
