End of War in Gaza: Ongoing Negotiations Amid Israeli Threats
Mahmoud Mardawei, a senior leader in the Hamas movement, confirmed that negotiations in Doha and Cairo are ongoing, stressing the importance of ensuring the end of the war in Gaza and rejecting any partial agreements.
Mardawei explained that the movement is flexible enough to reach a comprehensive exchange deal that guarantees the end of the war, Israel’s complete withdrawal, and provides relief and reconstruction for the Gaza Strip.
He also emphasized the need for real guarantees to end the war in Gaza, pointing out the movement’s refusal of any partial deals.
These remarks came two days after the Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, threatened to launch a wide-scale military operation in Gaza if progress is not made in the issue of releasing detainees held by Hamas.
In a related context, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Khalifi, described the criticisms of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “mere noise,” expressing Qatar’s frustration with the slow pace of the Gaza negotiations.
