Escalating Trade Tensions Between China and the U.S. … Trump Responds to Chinese Measures

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that China “made the wrong move” and “panicked” after imposing retaliatory tariffs of 34% on American goods.

Trump’s statement came via the “Truth Social” platform, following the Chinese State Council’s announcement of similar tariffs on all U.S. imports.

The Customs Tariff Committee of the State Council in China explained that the decision was a response to U.S. trade policies, which it deemed “a violation of international trade rules” and “detrimental to China’s legitimate interests.”

The Chinese tariffs are set to take effect starting April 10.
