Facing Iran: Israeli Objections to Any Potential Deal with Tehran Amid an Escalating Diplomatic Crisis Following Western Sanctions on Israeli Ministers
Israel is witnessing simultaneous developments on both the security and diplomatic fronts, as debate continues over the future of relations with Iran and ongoing negotiations regarding its nuclear program, parallel to escalating disputes with several Western countries following the imposition of sanctions on Israeli figures linked to the settlement file in the West Bank.
Netanyahu: Possibility of Confronting Iran Without US Support
In this context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel might find itself forced to deal with Iran without direct support from the United States if a change occurs in the US position towards the Iranian file.
According to Israeli journalist Amiel Yarhi, Netanyahu said during a meeting of the Ministerial Committee for National Security Affairs (the Cabinet) that Israel may reach a point where it is forced to confront Iran alone, with all the resulting repercussions related to military support, ammunition, and the international standing.
He added that Israel does not wish to reach this scenario, but it is taking into account the possibility of it happening given current developments.
Military Establishment’s Objections to an Agreement with Iran
In parallel, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir expressed reservations about any potential understandings or agreements with Tehran, considering that the current formulas do not meet Israeli security requirements.
The report quoted him as saying that any agreement currently being discussed is viewed within the Israeli military establishment as insufficient to address concerns related to the Iranian file.
Zamir affirmed that the Israeli army remains in a state of full readiness to deal with any potential developments, indicating that recent military operations inside Iran do not change the continuation of Israeli military preparations.
He added that the army continues to monitor regional developments while maintaining a high level of readiness given existing security challenges.
Continued Operations on the Lebanese Front
The Israeli Chief of Staff’s statements also touched on the Lebanese front, where he affirmed the continuation of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon.
He indicated that the army continues to carry out operations targeting military sites and structures it says belong to Hezbollah, confirming the continued state of alert on the northern border amid ongoing security developments.
Earlier today, Israeli media reports stated that the Israeli Security Cabinet had decided to carry out an immediate strike on Beirut if any rocket launched from Lebanon crosses into Israeli territory, without referring back to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, or the political leadership.

Western Sanctions on Israeli Ministers and Settlers
Alongside the Iranian file, Israel entered into a diplomatic confrontation with several of its Western allies after six countries announced the imposition of sanctions on Israeli figures against the backdrop of developments in the West Bank.
France, Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Norway announced coordinated sanctions targeting Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in addition to four leaders of settler organizations and 21 settlers.
The measures included freezing financial assets and imposing travel restrictions, as part of what these countries described as steps aimed at addressing violence and escalating tensions in the West Bank.
Tel Aviv Rejects Sanctions and Describes Them as Interference in Its Affairs
For its part, the Israeli government rejected the Western sanctions, considering them an interference in its internal affairs.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry affirmed its rejection of any measures taken by foreign governments against Israeli officials or citizens, considering that these steps reflect political positions related to the ongoing conflict more than being legal or security measures.
In contrast, Western countries justified the sanctions by stating they target individuals they accuse of being responsible for escalating violence in the West Bank, while France clarified that some measures came in response to positions and policies related to the future of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Concurrent Security and Diplomatic Pressures
These developments come as discussions continue regarding the future of US-Iranian negotiations, amid differing positions among relevant parties concerning the chances of reaching new understandings.
At the same time, Israel faces increasing diplomatic pressure from several Western countries due to its policies in the West Bank, placing the Iranian file and relations with Western allies at the forefront of the political and security scene during the current phase.
