Ghalibaf to Washington: ‘Good Cop, Bad Cop’ Game Is Over, No Path Forward Without Commitments
Ghalibaf statements drew regional attention after the Iranian Parliament speaker criticized the United States following the strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, saying Washington either lacks the will or the ability to fulfill its commitments.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said that “the Zionist attack on the southern suburbs once again proved that the United States either lacks the will to implement its commitments or lacks the ability to do so.”

Ghalibaf added that “it is impossible to obtain concessions by giving the regime a green light,” arguing that “the ‘good cop, bad cop’ game has become outdated and worn out.”
He also stressed that continuing the current track requires a clear commitment from the United States, saying: “If you do not have the will and the ability to fulfill your commitments, then there is no possibility of talking about continuing the process.”
The Iranian Parliament speaker’s remarks come amid regional and international attention on the ongoing understandings between Washington and Tehran, following a series of reciprocal statements regarding the future of negotiations and potential agreements between the two sides.
