Lebanese army conducts military drills.. Israeli solutions to confront Hezbollah’s drones
Hezbollah drones Lebanon Israel: Israeli army casualties and defense systems development
Lebanon is witnessing simultaneous developments on security, military, and political levels, as the Lebanese army announced field drills in the east of the country, coinciding with Israeli defense companies announcing new means to deal with drones coming from the Lebanese front, while diplomatic movements related to the path of de-escalation and negotiations between Lebanon and Israel continue.
Lebanese army drills 2026
The Lebanese army command announced military exercises in the areas of Al-Qaa-Baalbek and Sahl al-Kanisa-Kfar Fouq in eastern Lebanon, including live ammunition firing using heavy weapons.
The command said in a statement that the exercises will be conducted starting from the morning of May 21, 2026, until the end of the drills, calling on citizens to stay away from the training areas to ensure their safety.
These exercises come amid ongoing security tensions in Lebanon’s border areas, coinciding with monitoring military and political developments in the south.

Israeli defensive solutions to counter drones
In contrast, Israel Aerospace Industries and other Israeli defense companies revealed a set of technical solutions presented to the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israeli army to deal with Hezbollah’s drones.
According to the companies’ announcements, the solutions include kinetic interception systems, energy-based technologies, in addition to systems using electromagnetic force to deal with fiber-optic drones, with some of these technologies undergoing initial testing within facilities of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
Boaz Levi, Chairman of the Board of Israel Aerospace Industries, said that companies began working on these solutions before receiving an official request from the military establishment, indicating the possibility of providing initial systems within weeks if the required approvals are obtained.
The companies also indicated that they are studying the possibility of integrating more than one technology into a single system to enhance the effectiveness of dealing with this type of drone.
This comes amid Israeli reports of casualties among soldiers and officers during drone attacks on the Lebanese front, including the commander of the 401st Armored Brigade, Colonel Meir Biderman.

Le Drian: Lebanon is in a dangerous situation
Politically, the special envoy of the French President to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, said that Lebanon is going through a phase he described as “sensitive” in terms of stability and territorial integrity, pointing to continued internal division over files related to Hezbollah and the relationship with Israel, affirming that Lebanon is in a dangerous situation.
Le Drian welcomed the continuation of the truce and ongoing negotiations, considering that they provide an opportunity to continue discussions in the coming weeks aimed at reducing tension on the Lebanese-Israeli border.
He added that Lebanese leaders have expressed readiness to enter a direct negotiating path with Israel to support state institutions and enhance stability, while pointing to the importance of the American role in this path, despite France not participating in some aspects of the negotiations, according to his statements.
Political and diplomatic movements related to Lebanon continue in parallel with security and military developments in the region, amid international efforts to maintain de-escalation and prevent the expansion of escalation on the southern border.

Earlier, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said, before Deputy Michel Daher and a delegation from agricultural unions, that the framework set by Lebanon for negotiations consists of five elements: Israeli withdrawal, ceasefire, army deployment on the border, return of displaced persons, and economic or financial aid to Lebanon.
He added that anything else being discussed is incorrect. Aoun affirmed that his duty, based on his position and responsibility, requires him to do the impossible and what is least costly to stop the war on Lebanon and its people.
