In Yemeni Airspace: Details of a New Operation by Ansar Allah
The Yemeni group Ansar Allah announced on Saturday, April 19, the downing of a U.S. MQ-9 drone while it was flying over the skies of Sanaa governorate.
The group’s spokesperson, Yahya Saree, stated in a press release that the air defenses successfully shot down the drone using a domestically made surface-to-air missile.
The statement indicated that this was the second drone to be downed within 24 hours and the sixth since the beginning of the current month. It also noted that a total of 21 drones of this type have been brought down so far.
The spokesperson stressed that continued airstrikes and targeting of civilians and infrastructure will not alter the group’s position, reaffirming the continuation of what he described as “support operations” until the war on Gaza ends and the blockade is lifted.
