International calls for “restraint” in Yemen

Following the recent escalation in the serious ceasefire violations in Hodeidah governorate, the head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) and the head of the Redeployment Coordination Committee, Lieutenant General Abhijit Goha, called on the parties to the conflict in Yemen for restraint.

In a statement published on the United Nations website, Goha said, “During the past week, air strikes, the use of improvised explosive devices and ground attacks were reported. Reports of civilian casualties, including children, are particularly disturbing.”

He added, “The time has come for a ceasefire and an end to the cycle of military escalation that will aggravate the worsening humanitarian situation on the ground.”

Today, 7 civilians were killed and 10 other women and children were injured in artillery shelling. The joint Yemeni forces of the legitimate government accused the “Ansar Allah” group (Houthis) of launching it on the village of Al-Qaza in Al-Duraimi district, south of Hodeidah.
