Iran Criticizes G7 Statement, Urges Condemnation of Attacks on Its Territory

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, criticized the joint statement issued by the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7), stating that it overlooked what he described as Israeli attacks on Iranian territory.

In an official statement, Baghaei called on G7 member states to refrain from unilateral rhetoric and to condemn the party responsible for the attacks. He noted that the statement failed to address recent strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and residential areas, which, according to him, resulted in civilian casualties.

Baghaei argued that the omission of such incidents constitutes a violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. He stressed that G7 countries—particularly those with permanent seats on the UN Security Council—bear legal and ethical responsibilities to respond to such actions.

He further asserted that the recent strike on Iranian nuclear sites represents a direct breach of Article 2 of the UN Charter and poses a threat to regional security and stability, amid what he described as a concerning lack of international response.

Reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defense under international law, Baghaei emphasized that the role of the Security Council in maintaining international peace and security should not be undermined by a lack of decisive action in the face of such developments.

In conclusion, the Iranian spokesperson urged G7 leaders to adopt a balanced position that supports regional stability through the condemnation of attacks and rejection of unilateral policies.
