Iran denies ceasefire, describes Trump’s remarks as “false”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied the accuracy of U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements regarding Tehran’s request for a ceasefire, describing them as “false and baseless.”
The ministry’s spokesman made the statement to Iranian state television in response to a post by Trump on Truth Social, in which he claimed that “the new Iranian leader requested a ceasefire from the United States.”
Trump had written in his post that Iran requested a ceasefire, stipulating that this would only happen when the Strait of Hormuz is “open, unfettered, and navigable.” He added that Washington would continue striking Iran with “devastating force” until then, threatening to “send them back to the Stone Age.”
This exchange comes as the war between the United States and Iran continues for over a month, with the Strait of Hormuz effectively closed and both sides exchanging statements and military strikes.
