Iran: Gas pumping came in response to US sanctions

The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, revealed that “pumping gas into hundreds of centrifuges came in response to the new US sanctions.”

Islami explained, on the sidelines of a government delegation meeting in the Journalists Group on US sanctions, that they “not only fulfilled their obligations, but also commit new acts and repeat accusations,” saying: “Our will is strong and we will not fail to take any action that is in line with the interests of the Iranian people in lifting Penalties”.

He also added: “Iran has always confirmed and reiterated that all of its nuclear activities are carried out in accordance with safeguards and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.” He continued, “Therefore, in the implementation of the Sanctions Abolition Law, and in response to these sanctions, we started pumping laurel into advanced centrifuges.”

He stressed that “our measures are in line with the comprehensive safeguards agreement and we will take any step that guarantees our interests,” adding that “Iran will reverse its steps if all parties return to the nuclear agreement and abide by their commitments.”

The spokesman for the Iranian Energy Organization, Behrouz Kamalvandi, announced Monday to operate and pump gas into hundreds of centrifuges to enrich 190,000 “Su” units, noting that the International Atomic Energy Agency has been notified of this matter.

On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian said that Iran was responding to the new U.S. sanctions. Abdollahian added that the Iranian response was by pumping gas into hundreds of centrifuges of advanced generations, adding: “The new U.S. sanctions are illogical and.” It has no effect.”
