The Iranian Attacks on Arab States Deepen the Rift in Regional Relations
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned the continuation of Iranian attacks on Arab states, describing them as a “serious strategic mistake” that could deepen the divide between Iran and its Arab neighbors.
He stated that the ongoing attacks are creating an unprecedented level of hostility and could leave lasting effects on the future of regional relations.
Aboul Gheit’s remarks were made during a press statement today, Wednesday, at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. He emphasized that the Iranian attacks constitute a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, in addition to breaching the principles of good neighborliness.

The Secretary-General clarified that his comments do not diminish the consequences of the war facing Iran, but he stressed that there is no acceptable justification for targeting neighboring Arab states to draw them into a conflict in which they are not involved. He noted that several Arab countries have made sustained efforts to prevent such a catastrophic escalation.
Aboul Gheit warned of the risks of expanding the current confrontation, urging Iran to take immediate corrective action, stop the attacks, and address the situation with the targeted states before it is too late. He described the continuation of this policy as a strategic error that threatens regional stability.
