Israel Monitors Egypt-China Drills in Sinai with Intelligence Aircraft
Israeli media has reported the deployment of an electronic intelligence aircraft to monitor joint aerial exercises between Egypt and China, according to Hebrew-language sources.
The Israeli news site Natziv.net stated that Chinese J-10 fighter jets, belonging to the People’s Liberation Army Air Force, were spotted flying over the Sinai Peninsula on Tuesday, April 29, as part of bilateral drills with the Egyptian Air Force.
The appearance of the advanced jets was confirmed through signals detected by the SNIPE2 aerial surveillance system, marking the first public sighting of these aircraft in Egyptian airspace. Simultaneously, an Israeli intelligence aircraft— a “Nachshon Shavit” (Gulfstream G550), registration number 679— was observed flying over southern Sinai and near the Gaza Strip. The flight is believed to be a SIGINT (signals intelligence) mission focused on monitoring unusual military activity in the region.
The “Nachshon Shavit” is considered one of the Israeli military’s most advanced platforms for electronic intelligence, with capabilities for detecting and analyzing military communications and signals.
